Bella Vista

Bella Vista is a small town in the foot hills of the Ozark mountains in the northwest corner of Arkansas.  Although the town only has a population of 25,000 people, it comprises 32,000 acres.
Arkansas is known as the "Natural State" because of all of the outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, camping, bicycling, etc. that are available.  Bella Vista is right in the middle of this beautiful area and takes advantage of all the area has to offer.  
Bella Vista has seven lakes.
All of the lakes are man made so each has a dam and a river created by the run off from the dam.  

The dams also create exciting and beautiful waterfalls.
On the largest lake is a marina and restaurant with a view of the lake.

 Bella Vista was originally developed as a retirement community so it has a full array of amenities including fitness centers, tennis courts, swimming pools, etc.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Bella Vista is not a large town.  Because of this we only have one school.  Cooper Elementary School has grades kindergarten through sixth grade. 
After that, the students ride busses to one of the other school districts for the higher grades.
 
One of the more picturesque places in Bella Vista is Cooper Chapel.  The chapel is not used for church services but is used for weddings, concerts, and meditation.
In the neighboring community of Bentonville is the world headquarters of Wal-Mart and also of the Crystal Bridges museum.
There could be another entire post just about this magnificent place.
 
We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful spot and take advantage of the lifestyle here. 
 
We have all four seasons and each one is wonderful.  It is truly a hidden gem.

Dining Out Chinese

Tonight we decided to splurge on the calories and go to the Chinese Buffet  Lin's Garden.       For $12.50 each you can eat as much as want, of anything you want, and take as long as you want.  The selection of food is amazing.  I always start with Egg Drop Soup. They, of course, have a number of different kinds of soup you can have.    After the soup I normally move on to the peel-and-eat shrimp.  I like it here because the sauce is excellent. After that the selection of food is seemingly endless. There are lots of shrimp dishes, chicken just about any way you can imagine, and many varieties of pork.  You can also get vegetable dishes, and fish.  There are some American dishes but mostly it is Chinese, and lots of fried food.     Of course you have all kinds of desserts.   And you always end with Chinese Fortune Cookies.  (I just fou...

Our House

We live in a small two bedroom house in Bella Vista, Arkansas, USA.  Our house needed a lot of work when we bought it so we have done a lot of remodeling.  We did a lot of landscaping to the front yard and added rocks and trees.   We also did a lot of work inside the house.  One of the most difficult was to add new wood ceilings. We also redid the kitchen and added an island. We have a small bedroom that we use when the grand children come to visit. It has a small bathroom.   The master bedroom is pretty nice and has a nice master bathroom. We love the "Rain" shower head and the walk-in shower.   We also like the tall vanity. We have added a sunroom on the back of the house. It has a nice view of the lake.   It also gives us a lot more storage under the house and a room for me to paint.
